January 27,2015

These past two weeks have been stressful.  Our investigators don't like coming to church, for some reason!  It's tough.  We have a ton of potential in the area, so it's just a matter of solidifying the people.  We have three investigators who could be good members, it's just a matter of when they can be baptized... sooo....

It's crazy how it's been almost three months since I left the greatest town on earth! hahaha

My new companion is pretty good.  Things were awkward at first, but that comes it every companionship anyway! haha

I know the gospel is true and everyone should read the Book of Mormon and pray to know if it's true or not.  The Book of Mormon is the keystone to our religion and everyone should read it!

I miss you all! Elder Adona is out.

January 13, 2015

Well, this week was pretty good.
We were able to baptize someone on Saturday.  The ward came out to show support, which was awesome.  My old companion came back to perform the baptism, so it was nice to see him again.
My new companion is Elder Rasmussen. He's pretty cool. He likes the superhero stuff but doesn't have a favorite. He also likes to talk about James Bond. Honestly, I'm pretty sure that he *only* talked about James Bond yesterday.
Ogden is pretty neat, especially the inner-city part. We were tracting one afternoon and we ran in to this 70 year old RM. He looked like Santa Claus, except he had his shirt off, so it made things kind of funny. I'm only telling you this because he seriously talked to us for about 45 minutes. He even said, "ok, I better let you boys go", and then he'd talk to is some more. It was pretty funny. Inner Ogden always brings new experiences. The people here are... neat? Some parts are more ghetto than others.

Earlier this week, we were asked to give talks in Sacrament meeting on Sunday. It was so much like my first Sunday here... we had a confirmation and had to give talks on the same Sunday. As missionaries, you don't have a ton of time to work in your talks. So I was able to confirm the person we had baptized and then go give a talk in another ward.
I had a talk picked out and had it open in a tab on my iPad. But then I realized I needed to pull up the confirmation prayer, and I unknowingly opened it in the same tab and lost my talk. I didn't realize it until I had to give the talk, so I basically winged it for 10 minutes about goals.

Note to self: Don't listen to the missionaries who tell you to get a haircut and tell the barber to "work their magic". It ends up not good.

Anyways, have a great week everybody and talk to the missionaries at least once. Missionaries are pretty cool.

January 6, 2015

So get this.  My trainer, who is supposed to be with me for 2 transfers (12 weeks), is getting transferred!  So I will have someone new to continue my training.  It feels weird, because I mentally prepared to be with someone for 12 weeks and now I get this surprise!  (by the way, I'm not big on surprises).  So this will be an interesting transfer.  This first transfer went by super fast but the only bad part was we weren't able to baptize more people.  Being out on a mission has strengthened my testimony on, well, everything, I guess!  Hopefully, we will be able to baptize more people this transfer because there aren't any holidays that we have to "battle" with.  We plan on baptizing one person this weekend, we just have to deal with a marriage license issue.  But I believe that everything will work out and he will be baptized.  We have some kids that should've been baptized a while back, but their dad (who grew up Catholic), is just worried that they are being converted to us instead of the Gospel.  The kids have met all the standards for baptism, so its just tough because their dad is worried.  His concerns come out of love, which I appreciate, because we were teaching some other kids and their parents weren't the best support.  That was tough on us and the kids.  Lastly, I'm glad Elder Durant trained me.  He helped me tremendously!  So thank you, Elder Durant!

December 30, 2014

This week was pretty slow due to Christmas. We were able to help two people make a date for their baptism so it definitely had its ups and downs. After being out for one transfer, I have grown to love helping people prepare for baptism. We were supposed to baptize 7 people on the 27th but they all fell through. I was pretty frustrated. As a missionary you really don't do anything aside from focus on baptizing other people. As a missionary you don't watch tv or movies unless its church produced. Basically, our pupose is to baptize. Having 7 fall through was awful, it sucks a lot. In the end its ok becuase I have enough faith that they will all get baptized and I know this gospel is true. I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God and he really did see God the Father and Jesus Christ. Through Joseph Smith we are able to have the fulness of the gospel through the Book of Mormon. I challenge all of you to read the Book of Mormon and pray to know if its true.
